So you’re with the person you are interested in and before you know it, he/she is close enough to actually talk to…so what next? You want to make sure that the person knows you are interested in them, so why not flirt a bit?
Flirting is a great way to make your date feel tingly all over, as it is a low-budget, irresistible and almost like safe sex (sort of). Who would flirt with someone they are not interested in? It’s the most obvious way of letting the other person know you are interested in them. The only question now is, how do you do it?
Here’s a quick list of what to do to get your “Hey, I’m interested in you!” message across to the other person:
1) Use your whole body. Why talk the talk without walking the walk? Try telling a woman she’s beautiful then shift your eyes away, and see if she actually believes what you are saying. Flirty body language begins with the eyes and works its way down to your toes. Therefore, lean forward, make eye contact, smile, bend your knees slightly and relax your hands and arms. Remember, this is meant to be fun!
2) Make eye contact. This is a crucial thing that few people actually do well. Looking someone in the eye makes the other person feel that they’ve got your undivided attention. It shows them that you are interested in what they have to say.
3) Smile, but don’t smirk. Make the effort to smile openly and sincerely! Smirking is quite unattractive and unpleasant and makes you out to be rather arrogant. Think about it, words like sneer, leer and grimace are synonyms of smirk.
4) Pay attention. Actually LISTEN to what they have to say! Don’t look like you are trying to remember if you turned off the iron at home before you left.
5) Go easy, with no full frontal assault! Don’t come right out and tell your date that he/she is incredibly hot. It’s like driving into the side of a mountain.
6) Focus on him/her, not yourself. Make your date feel like everything they say is like a pearl of wisdom. Just remember that you aren’t there to interview them like you’re Barbara Walters with questions like, “To whom do you credit your success?”
7) Maintain a positive attitude about flirting. Anyone can flirt, even if it’s just a bit. It’s a sign of confidence, even if you’re a bit nervous. Practise it before your date. Remember, you don’t have to be a smooth operator, just sincere.
Enjoy yourself. As I said in the introduction, flirting is meant to be fun. Once you are having fun, getting others to play along is much easier.
So take these tips to heed before your date. I can’t emphasize enough that flirting is meant to be fun, so make sure you treat it as such. You can make your date feel really good about him/herself, and they in turn will want to see you again. The key, of course, is sincerity. Many people can tell a liar and someone who is merely spinning cheap lines, so make sure you watch what you are saying. If you are sincere, a second date is almost a guarantee!
